چکیده

The Text Retrieval Conference∗ is an annual conference where researchers in information retrieval (IR) compare their systems on specified retrieval tasks through several tracks. This poster summarizes the work done by Kyoto University and the University ofMelbourne for the 2007 Genomics Track. We begin by briefly describing the track and then continue with a description of our method. We conclude with our experimental results from our TREC participation.

Support for Question-Answering in Interactive Information Retrieval: Rutgers' TREC-9 Interactive Track Experience

We compared two different interfaces to the InQuery IR system with respect to their support for the TREC-9 Interactive Track Question-Answering task. One interface presented search results as a ranked list of document titles (displayed ten at one time), with the text of one document (the first, or any selected one) displayed in a scrollable window. The other presented search results as a ranked...

NTU at TREC 2006 Genomics Track

In this paper, we present a system for information retrieval of biomedical texts at passage level. Our system used KL-divergence as the underlying retrieval model. We further added query expansion and performed post-processing on the results. We were able to obtain a Document MAP of 0.3563, Passage MAP of 0.0464 and Aspect MAP of 0.2255 on one of the three runs.

Combining Multiple Resources, Evidences and Criteria for Genomic Information Retrieval

We participated in the passage retrieval and aspect retrieval subtasks of the TREC 2006 Genomics Track. This paper describes the methods developed for these two subtasks. For passage retrieval, our query expansion method utilizes multiple external biomedical resources to extract acronyms, aliases, and synonyms, and we propose a post-processing step which combines the evidences from multiple sco...

York University at TREC 2006: Genomics Track

Our Genomics experiments mainly focus on addressing four problems in biomedical information retrieval. The four problems are: (1) how to deal with synonyms? (2) how to deal with the frequent use of acronyms? (3) how to deal with homonyms? (4) how to deal with the document-level retrieval, passagelevel retrieval and aspect-level retrieval? In particular, we use the automatic query expansion algo...

IIT TREC 2007 Genomics Track: Using Concept-Based Semantics in Context for Genomics Literature Passage Retrieval

For the TREC-2007 Genomics Track [1], we explore unsupervised techniques for extracting semantic information about biomedical concepts with a retrieval model for using these semantics in context to improve passage retrieval precision. Dependency grammar analysis is evaluated for boosting the rank of passages where complementary subject/object concept pairs can be identified between queries and ...
